Wish you a very happy and colorful Holi my dear lovelies,
The most vibrant, colorful and joyful festival of the year is here – Holi. Holi is a festival of food, fun, and mingling together, so let’s keep the vibe live and not worry about our skin and hair to get damaged by following these simple steps. Be prepared to deal with the colors of your skin and hair. Harmful chemicals can strip the natural oils from your skin but don’t worry we have got you covered.
Pre – Holi Care
Cover your body
Try to wear full sleeve top and full-length bottoms, try to cover maximum parts of your body to prevent your skin from colors, sun, and chemicals.
Apply Waterproof Sunscreen
Apply Sunscreen on your face, at least ten minutes before stepping out of the house of minimum 35 SPF, to save your skin from the harsh sun.
Apply Nail Paint & Petroleum Jelly
You can remove colors from face and body but it’s very difficult to remove it from nails and cuticles so apply petroleum jelly on cuticles and put transparent or any color nail paint on your nails.
Apply coconut or any other regular hair oil half an hour in your hair before stepping out. Make sure you apply a good quantity and tie them, do not keep them open to avoid the damage caused by chemical colors.
Apply Lip Balm
Apply at least 2 layers of lip balm or lipstick to avoid colors to stick to your lips.
I would say, take bath in moisturizer because that’s the only way you can save your skin from colors. You can also go for olive or coconut oil instead of moisturizer, make sure of applying good quantity, double of what you do on an everyday basis. Most importantly, do not forget to moisturize your ears, neck, and back as it can get really difficult to remove color from there.
You can wear bandanas also to save your hair and it looks cool as well.
Wear sunglasses to save your eyes from entering the color.
Keep yourself hydrated
Keep drinking water or juice because of the heat your body tends to lose lots of water and your skin can also get really dry.
Apply almond oil
Beneath your eyes, apply almond oil as eyes area are the most sensitive area so it’s important to give special care to it.
Post Holi Care
Use Homemade Cleanser
Make your own cleanser – take a bowl of curd and put two tablespoons of lemon juice in it. Apply it to the whole body and face, wait for few minutes then wash it off with normal or lukewarm water.
Homemade face packs
You can apply besan and milk face pack on your face. Let is sit on your face for some time, once it dries out, gently massage it and then wash it with regular or lukewarm water. Don’t forget to apply moisturizer post that.
Color Stains on teeth
If you get color stains on teeth, then mix some salt and lemon drops in your toothpaste and brush your teeth mildly.
Wash your hair with a mild or baby shampoo to remove oil, dirt, and color, followed by conditioner.
Post that applies a hair mask, you can make it at home by adding two tablespoons of olive oil with four tablespoons of honey and a few drops of lemon juice. Apply the pack and leave it for 15 to 30 minutes, it will nourish your hair. Rinse it off with a mild shampoo and lukewarm water.
No hot water
Post Holi, do not use hot water for washing hair or for a bath as it can make your skin and hair really dry. If it’s really cold outside then you can use lukewarm water.
Don’t be harsh
Don’t be harsh on your skin, it will take 2 to 3 days time for the color to totally disappear from your skin.
Avoid using face washes and soaps as they are alkaline in nature which will make your skin even drier.
No scrub for a day
Avoid to use scrubs, exfoliators for at least a day as the skin will be sensitive and using them will make it even worse.
